Hope Music Ministries, Inc. is the newest member to the Pageland Chamber of commerce. Look out, becuase they are coming in with a BANG! They are sponsoring a huge event in April.
Monday, April 5th – Sunday, April 11th, they are holding the 2010 Heritage Music & Arts Festival. The theme is “Uniting Communities, Celebrating People of Color”. Ron Gaines, the Director, states “this movement is not to segregate us but rather to foster an appreciation for how our lives have shaped not just that of America, but the entire world.”
There are many events scheduled for the week, which include: Beauty pageants, talent shows, Chinese auction, soul food cook-off, art displays, car show, fashion show, gospel concert, worship service and much, much more. They have even scheduled an Old School Dance on Friday evening.
Events are being held in many locations including nearby schools, the Community Center in Pageland, the Clyburn Center, and American Legion grounds. There will be an indoor food court and craft vendors. The carnival will be nearby for the kids. So, there will be something for everyone. They invite you to come out and have lots of fun with them during the week.
Members of the festival committee and Voices of Hope were on hand at the Chamber office to cut the ribbon on this event. Before they left, they entertained me with a wonderful song – a capella. The group is 20+ members strong and some have been singing for 19 years.
We hope you will take time to enjoy the festivities, as they help to bring pride to our community!
