election

Tuesday, November 3rd was the beginning of a new era in Pageland.  Leadership for the town is taking on a new direction.  Earlier this year, Mayor Carroll Faile announced his retirement from the Pageland political scene.  Voters in town not only elected a new Mayor, but also two new councilmen.  After a recount in District 5, a clear winner was announced.  Each candidate won by a majority of the vote, ensuring no need for a run off election.

Results were as follows:

Mayor:  Brian Hough – 267; Kohler – 167; Whitakker – 55

District 4 Council:  Joe Clontz – 37; Jessie Evans – 29

District 5 Council:  Susan Breisch – 41; Smith – 24; Laney – 16

District 6 Council:  Joe Steen – 56; Neal – 21; Carnes – 20

The newly elected Mayor and councilmen will be sworn in at the January Town Council meeting.
