Local Graphic Designer Paints the Town

Maybe you’ve seen those watermelons around town, advertising the Watermelon Festival.  They are the most popular thing in town!  Just like a farmer’s field, more and more just seem to appear each day, helping to grow our anticipation of the festival.  That was the whole idea,  conceived one night at a Festival Committee meeting in early May.  The next thing to figure out was how we could get it done.

It didn’t take long for Josh Johnson’s name to come up.  Josh has been an active part of the festival for many years.  Making sponsorship,  parking, sales items signs and many more.   He was behind the scenes, like most workers, without much exposure.  That would all change this year, for sure.

Josh jumped at the opportunity to serve the community where he lives and works.  Most importantly, he volunteered his time.  The Chamber of Commerce asked local businesses to sign up for the watermelon designs and before long, we had an overwhelming response.  Each watermelon takes about 20 minutes to complete and he has already accumulated more than 40 hours of service.  But Josh will be the first to say that he couldn’t do it without the help of his employee, Johnny Martinez.

Johnson Signs has been around for about six years.  Josh received an Associate of Arts degree from Kings College.  He specializes in signs, vehicle lettering and professional graphic design.  His specialties range from business cards to billboards and he has many local businesses that call on him.  He has a busy schedule, but still finds time to help out the Watermelon Festival Committee.

When you see Josh and Johnny around town, thank them for helping to make the Festival fever rise this year!   contact Johnson Signs call 843-622-5701
